Safety Boom in Schwatka Lake
Installation of a Safety Boom upstream of Whitehorse Dam, in Schwatka Lake, Yukon.
This boom was installed for Yukon Energy Corporation. The purpose of this boom is to direct debris to the west shore, away from the dam. Additionally, the boom served as a safety barrier for boating traffic away from the intake area. Geniglace's role in this project involved the installation of the boom, whcih includes providing all work plans, following environmental mitigation to guarantee minimal impact from the work, ensuring a safe work site and executing the process of getting the boom on water.
This project was installed in fall 2023 and remains in good function.
Reason For Project
Need to replace an older safety boom and install a new one near the Whitehorse Dam.
Solution
Geniglace installed this new safety boom, placed upstream of the dam.
Outcome
The new safety boom is installed and functioning well.
