Debris Boom at Island Lake Dam
Debris Boom at Island Lake Dam
An ice-resistant all season Debris Boom installed in front of Credit Valley Conservation's Island Lake Dam, near Mississauga Ontario.
The purpose of this boom is primarily for vegetation and trash retainment to ensure the outlet does not get blocked by debris. Additionally, the boom served as a safety barrier for boating traffic from the spillway. This debris boom is an LLDPE synthetic ice-resistant boom system, created by one of Geniglace's design specialist. Overall, Geniglace's role in this project involved the design, project management, supply and construction supervsion.
This project was installed in fall 2023 and remains in good function.
Problem
Divert or retain the debris to prevent it from blocking the spillway and causing generation losses.
Solution
An LLDPE debris boom was placed in front of the spillway to retain the debris.
Outcome
The boom has been preventing spillway blockage since 2023.
