Ice Resistant Debris and Safety Booms
Multiple ice-resistant debris and safety booms designed and installed as part of the Eastmain project in Quebec for the James Bay Corporation (Hydro Quebec).
- Design, fabrication and installation of a safety boom upstream of the Lemare control gates, for Eastmain A1 project.
- Design, fabrication and installation the 700 m long Rupert debris boom. The boom was designed to resist debris and ice.
- Design, fabrication and installation of a debris and security boom upstream of the diversion canal for Eastmain A1 project. The boom was designed to resist debris and ice.
- Design, fabrication and installation of three security booms. Two were temporary and the last one was permanent as part of the Eastmain A1 project.
Reason For Project
Project required safety booms that were resistant to ice.
Solution
Designed and installed permanent debris and safety booms that are capable of resisting ice.
Outcome
All booms still in service`.
